I want to lock it (just a lockrite) and have 4.10s with 33x10.5r15. So I'm debating between the expo and the ranger 8.8. Right now I have a 7.5 behind a 4.0 with 31s and 3.73s (just waiting for it to break). So if I did the ranger 8.8 I would get disk brakes off a mustang gt (if anyone has insight on how to do that it would be greatly appreciated!). If I do the expo 8.8 I know it's stronger and already has discs but I'm not a fabricater and don't know how to weld, so moving the spring perches up too is a little sketchy. Also I read it doesn't have as much clearance as a ranger 8.8.

I will be wheeling this pretty good. I have a buddy who knows how to weld so if moving the perches up top isn't hard I bet he could help me out..

I'm a firm believer in doing it right the first way. Your best option is explorer 8.8 relocating the perches isn't that complicated. I think it's ruffstuff that has a little swap kit with perches and shock mounts.

Not sure where you read that, but an 8.8" is an 8.8" when it comes to diff clearance.

I agree. Get the Ex 8.8" and have your buddy weld up the perches and shock mounts for you. It's not a difficult job at all.

Alright it's got thicker shafts anyways.. And idk I read so much I forgot but some people think weird things! I figured the same, an 8.8 ring is 8.8 no matter what.. I'm definitely doing the expo axle. Never have to worry about that thing breaking
