i went to raplace my wheel bearing and when i tried to remove the axle shaft spacer i realized that the splines on the shaft had been worn so that the spacer wont come off what should i do

If you are talking about the front axleshaft splines being worn, I'd replace the stub shaft, so cut it off...But if the are not worn that bad and don't want to replace the shaft (even though I advise it), grab a small triangle file and rework the splines until you can remove the spacer...

TankTank20,
RangerSVT knows what he's talking about! The file will work. I was in Germany visiting some of my German Brothers and we were putting an aftermarket electrical start on an ole Kicker '74 FLH. Well somebody before us had buggered up some threads in the clutch spring pack and we couldn't get one of the bolts started. Not something you want to leave out, liable to send the whole clutch pack spring out into your leg (it's an open primary), and the clutch won't compress/engage correctly. I went over to the tool box, grab a mini file, sat on a stool, and said "watch this"! Now you gotta understand the Germans and their precision with mechanical stuff, this ain't their idea of fixin! Well, I did one round, stood up handed the file to Buchs, told 'em "get after it" (he always gets a kick out of me using my southern talk. The whole time he filing, the frog frenchman (Jeff, my retired French Soldier married a German woman) is standing behind him saying "it ain't gonna work". Buchs got done, after me a Frenchy downing several jack & cokes. I did an inspection, blew off the filings, handed frenchy the nut, and told him to put it together. I told 'em only way you learn stuff right there is from an ole broke Americanski that got to make it run and ain't got the money, time, or parts store open for new. They couldn't believe it worked. Still together, still clutching, still riding!

I would say you've poster a bearing question in the wrong sub-forum, but

Replacing wheel bearings IS an event on these trucks :D

a recurring one at that :thefinger: to you D35 outers...cant wait to swap to 44 knuckles

+1 on filing the splines w/ a triangle file
