l am in the process of building a small offroad trailer to pull behind the Ranger... my question is with square tubing when you join two pieces to create a 90* angle is it better to:

-cut two 45* angles and weld the seam -or-

-Weld the 90* by sticking one onto the other then capping the open piece?

What's even better is if you can cut a 90deg V-notch in the tubing and leave the outside of the tube uncut and simply bend it around.

but that only works if your pieces of tubing are long enough

I helped a guy make a 12x8 frame that way, we notched and bent the
two pieces of tube to make the square "halo", fairly obviously we started
with two 20foot lengths. It isn't always practical

If you are making a miter joint you spread the load over a bit more weld

It is probably a good idea to make up some gussets
and put them on one side of the tube or the other.

I'm talking about a diagonally cut 4" square of seel the same thickness
as the wall of your tubing and used as a "plate" over the joint and
welded fully around it's perimeter.
