Need to replace the vv cover gaskets on my '94 4.0 The local parts stores sell a 4 piece gasket kit. 2 vv cover and what looks like 2 intake gaskets(?) My service manual isn't very specific about this... to replace the vv cover gaskets, do I actually have to pull off the intake plenum or just the valve covers?

i am not positive, but i dont think you need to take any of it apart, as long as you have a clear shot for working on the gasket seal surfaces. it may be though, that it becomes easier to just pull the top half of the intake off in order to get working clearence for the V. covers. I am not positive beccause when i did mine, it was during a long block rebuild outside of the vehicle, so i cant personaly speak to having replaced the gaskets with a motor in the truck.

it seems to me that a lot of manufacturers seem to bundle a few gaskets together as kits on the assumption that a person is doing some sort of rebuild. it would be nice to be able to get just what you need for an individual price...

Yeah, pull the upper intake manifold and alt. If you didn't, it would be a serious pain in the A.

it still a pita and pull the coil really the way i look at it pull what evers in your way it achually saves u time and keeps your stress level down
