Hey guy's cannot find what the timing should be on a 2.8 that I did the DS conversion currently timed as specified on the sticker. Starts right up and idles just super and runs OK at speed, where the problem comes in is at low speed between the gears and in gear it bucks and snorts and I have replaced the accelerator pump. Only thing I can think of is vaccumn leak or it is the carb which is a 2bbl off a 302 pre-smog

I currently run mine at 10 degrees BTDC. I have run as high as 12 degrees without any issues, but I leave the extra two degrees as a safety net in case if I get a tank of bad fuel or the engine gets a little on the hot side. Hauling a camper and towing an enclosed trailer full of dirtbikes makes the little mill run a tad warm in the summer!

10 degrees BTDC is the spec listed in the service manual for the year of Capri that the distributor came out of as well.

Hope this helps.

I dont have a timing light does anyone know what the vacuum should be at. Thats how ive always tuned my motors.

Ideal would be max vac at idle although you could have some serious pre ign doing it that way, one way is to loosen the dist and adjust the timing so you can go from idle to wot without a stumble then tighten everything up and see how it starts as you might have to move up or done a tish.
