I was wondering what is the biggest tires i can fit on my 96 extended cab 2wd. It has stock suspension, and i am using what im pretty sure are cragar soft 8 16" rims. I think they are 16x8. I dont want any wheel rub, or any chance of it prefereably. I have 225 55 16 on now, I was thinking i could go 225 65 16s. But i want to be sure, so i figured id ask all of yall on here.

That should fit. Your old tire is 27" tall. The new tire size is 29.1" tall. I've seen 2wds run 31's stock.

Is this speaking g from experience or from just crunching numbers? I don't want to sound rude but I was hoping someone would help me that had 16's on their truck. Things always seem to work perfect in theory but then in the real world they don't even come close lol.

He knows from other members who have posted their trucks and have pictures, a 31" tall tire will fit on a 2wd truck of that vintage.

I have 235/75R15 on my 1997 Ranger, and I have plenty of room.

Mine: 235/75R15 = 28.9"

Your old tire: 225/55R16 = 25.7"

Your new tire: 225/65R16 = 27.5"

Unless your rims have a ridiculous amount of backspacing (as described here) You should be golden.

You will need your speedometer calibrated, it'll be off a good 5mph (you'll be driving faster than it says you are).

i'm running 245/75r16's on my 96 2wd short bed

the fit just fine and only rub the sway bar at full lock

A 235/70-16 is a common size on Explorers and would fit nicely.
