I got a hold of this 87 shortbed a long time ago, guy told me it was an 85, turned out it wasn't. After almost a year of trying to get rid of it, it still sits in my carport to this day; so I've decided to say screw it and do something with it.
My initial idea was just an ls swap and an 8 inch rear end, but I've seen way too many of those and I'm not necessarily the craziest about drag racing. After a few weeks of ideas and possibilities (k swaps, full electric setups, etc), racking my brain on finding a balance between coolness, functionality, and budget. I came across a video of a Hybrid AWD rabbit and it dawned on me. AWD RALLY RANGER.
Now as much as I would love a hybrid setup, I neither have the patience nor budget to **** around with lithium cells and motor controllers. My plans are to get the power and drivetrain of something like a Subaru Forester and custom mount it to the ranger frame. I've already got the ranger, and I'm currently talking to a guy on marketplace about getting a Forester.
