Need some help figuring out the gear ratio I need

I use the Dakota Digital unit to calibrate my speedometer and it works very well. The problem is I don't think the 86 Rangers used an electronic signal for the speedometer. I could be wrong but I think they still used a speedometer cable. If so, there should be gears that can be changed in the drive in the transmission.

That is true, but in the first post he says this is for a 2009 B2300.

I've been thinking about getting that box for myself. I have a intermediate year ('95-'97 only?) where I have a mechanical gear by the transmission (already replaced the one gear when I went from the 225/70R14 tire to a 235/75R15), but it goes right into some sensor/converter that gives an electrical signal. I've looked for the correct driven gear I need (that supposedly exists, once upon a time I had a part #) but no one seems to have it, and I'm having my doubts. I think it's purple? though some say burgundy.

How hard was that box to set up? It'd be nice to have a properly working speedometer again.

thats the only thing i hate about my swap to 4.10's (had 3.45's) my speedometer was off by over 20 mph with stock 225/70/14 tires and now currently off by about 7 mph with 255/70/15's. going to make up a card to slip over the trip meter reset with the conversion from "reads" and "actual" did that with a 3/4 ton one using the tach as my referance when in a certian gear because speedometer didnt work at all. i couldnt find 4.56 in a junkyard, could only find 4.10's and only 2 axles with them at that. didnt want to pay the money for new gears and all the stuff required for the setup. much easier to roll a used rear end under. i did put new seals in and a brake spring kit, new wheel cylinders and made new hard lines.
