made cowl snorkel

well,i go thrugh allot of mud..and like water high enough that it gets sucked up into the stock air setup,and i usually dont plow in tothe water too much i mean i dont crawl into it but,water usually doesnt come plowing over the top of the hood that much..dont get me wrong it does..but jus not alllot.do u think that this snorkel wont do it for right now?..i mean in a couple weeks i will prob build a full snorkel.

i have a cowl snorkel, and with the stock setup, my fan would throw water into the stock pick up, soak the filter and choke the engine. now i have the cowl setup and i havent had a wet filter since, and i got thru much deeper water, althogh my wheel bearings and hubs are paying the price

yea you dont think the cover is good.the reason i put it there is to prevent rain water from going in the vent..this is effective..u dont hink its worth it?

Ah, don't worry 'bout it. Bobby has real world experience with running a cowl intake semi-snorkel & so do I. The guys that speculate because they don't actually run one like that.........can only do that........SPECULATE. I've been runnin' mine since '02 with no problems. No fumes at any time when the heat or a/c is used, no water in the heater core/evaporator assembly, no water coming out of the vents. The cowl has never filled up with water or snow & got sucked into the intake tube. It's been driven in plenty of severe downpours where it's raining so much, the wipers can't keep up good enough to drive safely over 10 mph. I've gone through the South Platte River plenty of times where the water level was up to my headlights, (43.5 inches) (higher than my bumper) & water never "snowplowed" over the hood into the cowl. Never noticed an increase or a decrease in engine performance............it may show one way or another on a dyno but really...........if I can't feel it.............why would I care? It's not a race truck.

I like your idea of making it now so that when your truck is like you want it in the future, that part is already done.

thats the best advise you can get! i neglected mine, they were brand new and now they are completely wrecked, they lasted about two months after wheeling and not cleaning and regreasing
