Just started tinkering with AutoCAD 2012

havent used autocad since highschool.

i used 3D modeling programs in college and i prefer those, it's easier to think in 3d and then build it in 3d, IMO.

You can do 3D with autoCAD. It's pretty intense honestly.

I don't have any examples of my 3D models on my home computer, so here's one off google!

I'm not sure if this is autoCAD, but it's got a freakin BII in it so it's awesome.

Well, I'm stuck in the dark ages and still using version 2005. Every Winter I do a couple more parts in 3-D, easier to find them on the puter than run out into the garage when it's 20 below. I do mechanical design from home, usually in the Hydro Power Governor control pressure systems.
Started out simple with a brake drum

Moved up to flexplates and flywheels.

Then I did the PowerTrax lunch box locker

Then I took the flywheel and added the clutch & pressure plate. PP is not done, that is a tough one. Besides learning the 3-D, really learned some things doing the clutch plate.

Sweet models Mac.

I mostly use mine for drafting up random things I plan on building, and regularly for school to create motor/PLC/VFD control diagrams. I downloaded 2012 with a free temporary student key and so far I love it.

I've actually done work for in 3-D that I got paid for. I did part time contract work for Wausau tile, they make all the concrete outside tables at McDonalds and others. They were going to branch out into steel and grabed me, was there for 8 years part time. Some of the sales and purchasing people have a hard time with 2-D drawings.

Thses are similar to the trash cans made for Target that are in front of all their stores and a couple of benches - I know the colors should be white/red.
