If your in the middle TN area and would like to take a day ride with myself and Senornoob we love you have you. We plan on meeting in Hendersonville for breakfast 5:00 AMish on (Saturday 10/4/2025) and then head out to Turkey Bay (LBL). I’m told that it is open. I’m new to TRS so it would nice to meet others in the area.

Hendersonville, TN not North Carolina

Execellent! Most of the more active members are committed to either Cass, WV or the Overland Expo East in VA but I love seeing people setup meets on their own. I'm sure Jim, is happy to see it as well. Enjoy!

I won't be able to go but I can vouch the LBL area is very nice. Lots to see and do there!

I will make a suggestion. You guys have a blast first of all. But I would suggest just exploring the forest service roads at LBL first. They are free and way less packed then Turkey Bay will be. They are numbered roads. Just remember the higher the numbers, the less maintained the trail is. Oh and bring a chainsaw haha. You guys have a blast and I hate I'm gonna be gone. In a few weeks we can go hit Scooter's Loop

I'm good with that, If we can find them. Last time out I tried found 1 navigable, no trace of 2, and the 4th had 2.5ft ruts after about 100 yards with no way to get around them or even turn around.

What do you have in the way of radio? I've got a couple OLD handheld CBs. I'm not afraid to go get a set of GMRS handhelds (and a license) though.

If you need to,man. I'm not leaving till in the morning for the expo. You can run by and grab my handhelds GMRS radios and borrow them. I can go out and plug them in. My shop is right off exit 108.

Gaia or OnX GPS apps will have the forestry roads on them.

Lots of interesting things to see around LBL from before it was a park if you haven't done that before. Hotel California, School Bus etc if you google them. Easy roads to most of that stuff though.

I had OnX before. I couldn't get much out of it... Maybe it's just me, but I felt I'd have been better off with a paper map.

If you have one that shows the forest roads that is great too, I have one of those.

If you don't have a paper one I don't know if you will be able to get one ordered/received before this weekend though.

I'm thinking the Avenza maps may be the best thing for me. They're georeferenced PDFs. Got them on my phone covering the whole park. Just wish I had a bigger screen...

Just sync it to the radio screen in your truck. :icon_thumby: :icon_twisted:

Avenza doesn't do that. Even though they've added it to the list of formal feature requests in 2020.

Looking forward to it

I didn't think your '88 would do that either...
