i need help with a 2.8

i have a 1984 ranger 4x4 with a 2.8
L IT OVER HEATS AND NOW WATER IS IN THE OIL SO I FOUND A MOTOR ONLINE THAT IS A 2.9L SO I WANTED TO KNOW IF I GET A 2.9L AND TAKE OFF THE INTAKE AND PUT THE INTAKE FROM MY 2.8L THAT IS CABRATED .BECAUSE THE 2.9L IS EFI AND I WANT TO NOT PUT A HOLE LOT OF MONEY INTO IT SO CAN SOME ONE PLZ HELP ME WITH THIS OR GIVE ME SOME HELP ON THIS
 
Hello

It sounds like you have a blown head gasket or blown head. Try to find a kit to test your pressure in your coolant system before you look at a dura spark conversion.

Parts from 2.9l will not fit on your 2.8l.

Not quite, but close. With some work and modifications you can use a 2.9 crank, pistons, and valves as upgrade parts on the 2.8. Maybe it's the 2.8 pistons in the in the 2.9 instead, can't remember for sure.

As for the 2.8 intake and all on the 2.9 it won't work.
 
Head gaskets... Check your local auto parts store.

New heads... See Above (I don't know about new, but they can probably do reman)
 
Was it bolt on or did it take some (or alot) of modification to get the 2.8 intake to work on the 2.9? A carbed 2.9 would be great to see....in my opinion.
