My 2002 4WD Ranger XLT, 3.0L, is giving me intermittent misfires on cylinder #4 AGAIN. It sometimes throws a code but not usually. It had this same problem years ago and fixed when I had that injector changed. A can of BG-44K will clear the problem for a couple of tanks of fuel but then back again.

So I'm wondering if I can change out that injector myself?

It's a pain. You have to relieve the pressure in the system, and then take that whole fuel rail off that side. The fuel rail is what holds the injectors in place.

If you take your time, and have a place to work, you probably can do it. Set everything in order so you can put it all back together in reverse order.

Thanks franklin2. I suspected as much. I believe when I get sick of it, I'll take it into the shop and have it done.
