Working the bugs out can be a challenge. Mine ran really good with the feedback carb it just sucked on fuel mileage. I never did try using smaller jets I`m sure that will help on the upper end. Turn the idle air needles out 3 1/2 turns each confirm your timing is at 10 degrees with the vacuum disconnected and plugged engine hot. Apply manifold vacuum to the distributor and idle it down with the idle stop screw make sure the choke is fully open and adjust the idle air screws for the highest lean vacuum pressure or engine rpm. Turn them out one at a time then back in until the rpm just begins to drop. do them both a couple times using the tach or vacuum guage. Even with a non feedback carb I was blowing black smoke pulling a long hill. Since I put the #43 jets I can pull a pass at 70 mph and still have some pedal left.
