Hi everyone, I have a 1988 manual 2.3L ranger that I've been keeping up and it works great to be considered a daily driver at this point. I have had trouble getting the A/C compressor clutch to engage however. I have a new compressor, evaporator, sensor, and relays, but it's still not engaging by itself. The clutch will engage when I test so obviously there's a break in continuity or I'm missing a wire. I tried looking for some wiring diagrams but I can't find anything that really helps me figuring out what wire I should be looking at to go to the AC compressor clutch. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

On my 88 the wire goes from the compressor to the pressure switch on the dryer, then somewhere done by passenger frame.

Thank you this helped a lot. I figured out power isn’t the issue but my pressure switch isn’t closing. Tried a brand new switch but still not closing. Wondering if I have a clogged system of if I should change my evaporator

If you have any blackish oil coming out of your system, as I understand some of the plastic/rubber from the compressor has broken down and contaminated the system. Really no way of flushing condenser and evaporator as lines are so small.

These trucks do not have a safety clip on the High side of the hose that connects to the Condenser. Mine blew off last weekend. I am going to get it from the shop tonight. I found a safety clip from a F150 that helps lock the hose and condeser together. Same idea as what is on hour Fuel Pressure Regulator. I would suggest you finding one of those for yours. If you want to see what I am talking about, I have it shown in my 88 Ranger build. I dont know how to post pictures from my build to this post.
