I had to do the lower intake manifold gaskets on my 96 4.0L Ranger. I am having issues with a vacuum leak where the EGR tube enters the upper intake manifold. I cannot get this tube to seal into the upper intake manifold and keep getting a bad vacuum leak there (sprayed starter fluid at that location with engine running to confirm that is the location of the vacuum leak).
The seal/special O-ring that goes there has two small lips on it. Should these lips face up into the intake manifold or should they face down towards the EGR valve? Should this seal be put into the intake manifold then slide the EGR tube into the manifold OR should the seal be placed on the EGR tube before sliding the EGR tube into the intake manifold?
I have ordered a new seal/O-ring from Ford, unfortunately they got the wrong part for me and had to reorder the correct part.
Thanks for any help!
