I have a hood scoop from my old Torino (long gone) that I want to use on my Pinto. The 428 emblem will be changed to 2.8l. But I need to find a bunch of missing studs. Looks like the studs stripped out the holes when being removed. I need a technical term or name so I can search online. See pics.

Yes. I have helicoil to fix the scoop. But I need the studs. And I don't know the name of one's with an integral washer halfway up.

If you are going to helicoil it, could just use allthread or long set screws?

Is there something special about the studs?

I think that they have the washer so there is some pressure to avoid unscrewing when you undo the nuts. I better check to make sure they aren't reverse thread on the bottom half.

those look like those studs that are threaded both ways. like double threaded or something but have the built in "washer" in the middle to torque down against something.

googly says they are called double ended studs

nice!

my stepdad had a torino when he and my mom met. it was mustard yellow. i was 4 or 5 when we rode around in that. then he got orders to hawaii and the torino was sold since we were in south carolina at beaufort as he worked on f4s

Did they have fine machine screw threads on the fiberglass end? Or did they have a coarse thread kind of like sheet metal screws or wood screws on the end that went into the fiberglass? If they had the coarse threads, I would probably reinstall the originals with wet epoxy in the holes to restore the threads.

I don't have the originals.

I would be tempted to make studs from threaded rod and bed them in epoxy. They'll hold until you roll the car over a few times. At that point, they'll be scooping you off the track with a front-end loader anyway.
