2003 mazda here. I'm sure this has been asked...numerous times just can't seem to find an answer. I'm wondering if the small hoses that seem to go to the pvc valve area are necessary. Is there a way to do away with these??

Shadow,
Assuming you've got the V6 3.0L in your MazdaB truck?
My 2001 V6~4.0L~SOHC originally had a PCVValve smaller 5/16" coolant loop hosed parallel with HeaterCore 5/8" loop.
PCVValve had an "OxBow" with small 5/16" hose barbs around its neck.
A while back replacing hoses & realized PCVValve coolant loop only operated when interior heat was on;
I removed the smaller loop, associated Tees & Oxbow from the PCVValve.
It seemed to be a "RubeGoldberg" design & unneeded source of potential coolant leaks.
Have not had any issue since & I live at 9kFt elevation with winter temps down to -20f or so.
In the heat of Abilene Tx, you should not have any issue removing that PCVValve coolant loop.
Hope this helps.

The heated PCV valve was one of those things that made sense in theory but didn't do anything in real life if you live below the artic circle...

So I should be able to remove both the tee fittings and this ox fitting thing at the pcv and straight his to the heater core

YES, DELETE THEM ASAP... my plastic tee snapped off yesterday and pissed out half or more of my coolant... would've been a roadside stranding, but I was just pulling in my driveway... steam show for the neighbors.

To be fair, the hose/tee that let go was 13 years old, and I'd been "thinking" (procrastinating) about replacing it for 4 years now... blush ...

... but yeah, it's the proverbial training bra on a boar hog, won't be missed.
