Gun rack

This is for Iowa, so it wouldn't apply to the OP:

Transporting Firearms
You may not have or carry a shotgun or rifle
in a vehicle that is on a public highway, unless the
firearm is taken down or totally contained in a securely
fastened case with its barrels and magazines
unloaded.

The Iowa DNR rakes a bunch of people over the coals every year for not having their gun properly stored during hunting season. It is a great way to lose a couple hundred bucks. Probably mostly to discourage road hunters which is one of the lowest forms of a hunter IMO (second only to poaching)

Personally even if it was legal I still wouldn't do it because your are a busted window away from losing your guns... which you are broadcasting that you have in your truck.

the cradle part is that metal? is it coated in rubber? or is plastic. I got an old m70 that my dad gave me and don't want it to get strached to shit in that.

Learjetminako- You're exactly right about the Marlin Model 60, nice. The second one is a Winchester.

Yeah it's coated in rubber, tons 'o grip! The whole thing is metal and it sits pretty solidly in the truck.

Ha ha, yeah if you DON'T have a gun rack it should be illegal!

I never liked Iowa when I lived there.

Indiana gave me a lifetime carry permit. If you just get a hunter permit than it is restrictive like that. With a carry permit, which the same paperwork and a few bucks more, you can carry anything it is legal to own anywhere except inside a school, hospital, airport or federal building. I'm against those restrictions. If some jerk weed starts shooting, I want to look around and see some normal people pulling out some guns and making a plan to condense the nonsense, not laying around being executed. I'm all for seeing some firepower in the back window.

Iowa is full of ninnies--the firearm laws having been passed by elected people is my proof. In Indiana a Democrat is more conservative than a New England Republican.
