Can anyone tell me how to go about testing the fuel pump and eec relay on my 1987 ranger 2.9. Fuel pump relay is a 4 pin. Not sure what I should be seeing for voltage or resistance. They both click and truck runs but I intermittently lose power to fuel pumps and it’s upstream of inertia switch. Thanks in advance

if it clicks when power is applied, and you can are reading continuity, the relay is good. its probably a loose wire or broken wire that loses connection when you hit a bump.

connect your meter and start wiggling wires till you lose connection. then you can isolate from that point closer till you find it

Here is the schematic for an 86. Likely to be the same.

I had issues with mine shutting down intermittently and had two faults.

First was just a poor connection at the EEC relay. The second was a a hacked up ground splice S124. I found that "wiggle" testing the engine harness that runs from front of engine to the RH fender. Wiggle it just right and the engine would go wonky and even shut down.

Not saying it's your problem... but worth a wiggle test.
