Another thing to think about is Fords torque management system as well.. limiting the amount of torque available in the first few gears at low speeds. A good way to do that with a turbo vehicle that has a PCM controlled waste gate is to simply hold the gate open until a manufacturer determined speed or rpm. If the turbo would otherwise be spinning fast enough to make boost but the gate stays open until Lord Henry decides it should shut.. well... That would mimic the feeling of lag. Upshifting would/could mimic lag.. but it's definitely not lagging.

I very much realize I'm being mr technicality to the point of pedantry with this but... These turbos are way too small to show someone the definition of lag. I promise. A large field mouse could fart into the turbine inlet on one of these and get the damn thing spinning fast enough to make a half psi I bet.
