Sorry, I only looked at the bottom picture. The top picture definitely looks like a weave but the bottom one does not. There is no connection between each tack.

Sure there is, that's the one I was talking about weakness because of the sharp areas between the whips that can cause cracks.

If you look closely, the center of it all is one bead, but past that, it looks like tacks.

The guys at work try this on water tight welds, and needless to say, they were more effective as lawn sprinklers than radiators.
