Can't sleep because of construction

Some azzhole thought it would be a good idea to start using heavy equipment and start pouring concrete at the elementary school across from my house at 2:30 am. It's now 4:30 am and I'm laying in bed listening to the truck that pumps the concrete, the cement trucks idling outside my house, and whatever the hell else is running and making all the rumbling sounds.

Whoever approved this should be terminated. If they didn't want to do it when the kids were there, they should have done it Friday or Saturday.

The schools around here don't have classes on Friday which is another stupid ideal. I don't know how they're going to expect these kids to work a Mon-Fri 5-day week when they can't even handle going to school for 5-days.

I swear the older I get the more people suck.

Seems like that should violate some noise ordinance or something. Few months back the water main broke at the end of my road. They showed up about midnight and was staged all the way down the road. I leave for work around 3:30 - 4 am. I had to find someone to move the trailer for the front loader so I could get out of my driveway. I understand it was an emergency fix but they blocked up basically all the driveways in my small neighborhood. Wife said they were gone by 7 that morning when she left. I couldn't imagine multiple days of that noise.

The cement trucks are parked right outside of my bedroom window. The woman next store is a teacher at the high school. It seems only fair that they keep her up too.

There are usually community noise laws against this kind of thing. Construction companies will often take their chances that nobody says anything. I'd look into your laws, and if there is something, raise Hell.

There's a noise ordinance. Apparently they're only allowed to be doing this between 7am - 7pm. They're adding an addition to the elementary school. So, it's basically a city / government project. We don't even have a cop on duty at night. The sheriff's department responds to calls during the midnight shift.

This is what I get for saying "I like living in a small town. It's quiet."

Put on your black ninja suit and run around turning off keys in idling equipment. If you're going to be awake, it might as well be fun.

Jim,

That is a bummer.

Do what most of us do in our 50's ... were already in our underwear, grab the robe put it on and leave it untied grab the cowboy hat to hide that late night scruffed up hair.. walk outside with a mega phone in hand and pumped up chihuahua in the other hand. Walk over and speak through the mega phone saying there are noise ordinances here..while the chihuahua is growling and shivering, you stand there waiting for them to listen..realizing your robe is untied with underwear exposed and with one slipper sock on..not caring, you only want your voice heard.

Out of frustration you say it 3 more times...finally you say stay off my lawn. Then walk back home..grab the keys to your 350 powered jaguar..start it with max rpms, you go there and block thier path, then do donuts..then they call the sheriff...law enforcement sides with you and neighbors...ahhh..can sleep now until gotta get up at 545 am for early special at Dennys.
