I have a 2007 Ranger 2.3 DOHC in a project vehicle with the 2007 Ranger 5 speed manual trans. Has anyone put cams in their 2.3 DOHC Duratec? Any real life experience and actual results?

I have looked at cams from Fab9, Esslinger Engineering, Brian Crower. They are a little pricy - around $600 for the pair plus most say if you install their stage 2 cams and plan to rev the engine into the 7000+ range to also install their valve springs for another $340 to $425. So, more than $1000 for upgraded cams.

Thanks.

there is virtually no talk of hi performance for the mighty 2.3 Duratec here. V6s and V8s prevail.
I would try Mazda forums, or maybe Ford Truck Enthusiasts forum.

not trying to scare you away, there just isn't much for them here.

my 2005 2.3 had about 372,000 miles on the original engine when I swapped it out for oil issues in cylinder 1
when it was in better shape it would rev to 6000+ and be very happy doing it.

FYI, do not under any circumstances loosen the harmonic balancer bolt. there is no keyway there. that throws the engine timing off.
