Getting ready to go with dropped I beams DJM are short shocks needed with them?

No, your shock length doesn't change with a beam install. You may want to get a better performing shock though to compliment the lowered stance.

Would you be able to explain how lowering the truck would not change the shock length? wouldn't it require something shorter? And if not, why not?

The DJM beams use the stock suspension of the truck. You wouldn't want to go with lowering shocks and springs unless you wanted to drop the front end more.
