Hello,
I have an 86 ranger that is a regular cab short bed with the the 2.3 turbo diesel that is currently 2wd and will be converting to a 4wd (I already bought a 4wd trans and a 1350 and 1354m case for a doubler) using one of the following setups. I have a narrowed Dana 44 from a 79 bronco with the cast radius arm mounts, however it is missing the knuckles out but I have a Chevy Dana 44 that I can use for the knuckles and brakes. I know I can use the brake stuff with a ford rotor to have the 5x5.5 pattern but I already have a 1995 isuzu rodeo Dana 44 that I can use for the rear and has the same 6x5.5 pattern as the Chevy Dana 44. So that is one option.
Then also I have a Dana 30 from a jeep Cherokee that is complete and not a cad axle as well as an explorer 8.8.
The plans for the truck include mostly mountain forest service roads, desert trails and some wheeling around on the farm. So not really any big rocks and max tire size will be 33's or 35's. The diesel is stock for now but will be increasing the power soon nothing crazy just add an intercooler and up the boost a few pounds. I have both transfer cases to build a doubler but I may not do it.
Anyways after I have explained what I plan to do, which axle set would you use??
