Just curious if there are any other first responders on here and if so how are your rigs outfitted?

I am a lieutenant with one of the local fire police forces & a member with a second one. I have my daily driver (2024 F150) out fitted with hopefully enough lights and also a 100W six tone siren with dual electronic air horns.

I sort of am since I volunteer with a search and rescue group out of the French Creek/Sykesville area as follow on shift relief.

The radio equipment is still a project in work but the 2011 has a SSB CB, Quad Band Ham Radio, Dual Band DMR radio, and a GMRS radio. The plan is to eventually install a low band HF for 40m and 80m as well. Once we get the system worked out, the quad band will be setup as a moble repeater to extend the range of the hand held radios. Myself abd the team leader are the only ones so equipped at the moment.

The truck also has a small shovel, pick, felling axe, and a bow saw. Otherwise, most of my gear is either in my three day pack, patrol pack, climbing gear pack, or load bearing vest since most of the work would be on foot, once on location than in the truck. Chainsaws and felling gear can be loaded as needed as well. As can some small gas generators, if the search is expected to be over a longer duration and EMS hasn't had a chance to get their gear in place for whatever reason.

The good news is that so far, all we have had to do is train and refresher train.

that is good news, that is training that you hope you never need to use

Absolutely, the seemingly constant recurring training is getting old. That could partly be because the military constantly has recurring training. Sometimes, on the same subject matter. And every time you turn around, they are throwing a new requirement onto the pile.
