Hey Guys,

Did a search, but couldn't find a specific answer to my dilemma.

I've got the P0153 code & I would like to go ahead and change out the oxygen sensor asap. My gas mileage is atrocious! Like less than 12mpg [emoji15]
I don't know if this code was hidden before I bought the car recently. It if this halogens as a result of using e85 gas for the 1st in maybe a very long time? Maybe the fuel cleaned deposits & dirtied the sensor?

Either way, need changed out quick. I'm going to go with the Bosch sensor.

Just not sure which one is correct. I believe from what I've gathered here, the sensor in question pertaining to this code should be the driver side, closest to manifold?

On the Bosch website (picture attached)
I've got two sensors that are upstream. Which one should I use?

12 mpg, is that with regular gas or E85?

with regular, yep, you have a problem.

with E85 that's normal, mileage is much less with E85.

check the output of the flex fuel sensor,,,,A.K.A. alcohol content sensor. if it is mis-reporting the alcohol content the PCM will alter the fuel mixture.

the difference in some of those sensors is just the length of the wires.

With e85 right now; should it really be that low?
Just filled up with regular, we'll see what I get now; can see already that it's going up.

Either way, I changed out the O2 sensor, driver side. Was a pain, but doable, glad I didn't pay a shop [emoji16]. The sensor in there was a Bosch & it was looking toast & also either the person who put it in or someone trying to take it out used pliers on it. So it was in bad shape.
I put a brand new Motorcraft sensor. Found one remnant at a pepboys shop.
