Aerostar headers

Not been here in a while.....too many projects and other interests. Anyways, my interest came back to my old Ranger.

I have a lead on a set of 1986 Aerostar 2.8L factory headers. I am wondering if these are a simply bolt-on to the Ranger 2.8L 2wd versions. Any modifications must be done to the 1983 model?

Power increase or really no difference?

Yup they bolt right on, same 2.8 engines. They do flow better then the manifolds.

I had Headers until they rusted out

They will help with response, when you do the exhaust make sure
the exhaust does not have pipe ends the exhaust must pass thru, you want
the exhaust pipe ends facing the rear so the exit exhaust does not hit
the pipe ends slowing and making turbulance in the exhast flow.

I remember some years back some had trouble making them fit. I do not know if those post can be found in search, as it was probably 8 or 9 years ago.

Polish them on the inside if they are rough casting, even if you just use emry cloth and sand paper. and sanding wheels.
When my headers rusted thru, I put the exhaust manifolds back on, but smoothed them down on the inside to for les restrictions. to gas flow.
My exhaust already had the exhast pipe ends facing the rear for less restriction to flow.
