My AC had been working as of about 2 months ago, but randomly stopped blowing cold. Just getting around to troubleshooting, as it hasn't been anywhere close to warm enough to ever want AC, but now that time is coming up.

The truck has 120,000 on it (07' 4.0L)

The only symptoms are that it just stopped blowing cold. The compressor won't engage, so I can't get an accurate freon lvl reading.

I'm going to try jumping the compressor relay (and fuses) in a little to see if it's just shut off because of a very low freon level.

I know there's a mix of freon and oil that you need to use to make sure the compressor doesn't blow itself up, but I need some more help with what specifically to do there if that's the issue.

I'm assuming that if the compressor kicks on when I jump the relay, that means the freon is super super low and I need to recharge the system.

You are correct, sir, but jumping the fuses is not necessary if they’re good. Just temporarily jumper the low pressure cutoff switch.
