I am looking at a 94 Ranger extended cab 4x4 auto 4.0 with a blown motor. I already have a 4.0 out of 91 exporer 4x4 auto. Will it fit in without any of the wiring being changed? Any help greatly appreciated

should. Cant see why not. Everything was pretty much the same through those years. if one has egr, and the other doesn't this mike create a small problem, otherwise, should be a ok.

I just completed the same swap. My motor blew and I replaced it with a engine from a 94' explorer. I had to transfer the engine harness from the ranger block to the explorer block since the wiring was all opposite for connections to the ECU etc. Other than that it was a direct bolt in. I have the EGR on my new motor and left it attached to the setup without a vaccum hose attached so it wont open. The swap went very well. The old motor did not have EGR and the original harness does not have a plug for it.
I just left it on to keep the opening on the intake manifold closed and since i kept the explorer headers i needed to the egr tube there to keep the hole in the driver side header closed as well. Let me know if you have any issues. I seemed to do just fien with my swap.

Also, the explorer motor had a positioning sensor on the back of the block which the ranger did not. I left it attached to the block as well since it poses no threat to the function of the engine
