I've just started to put a lift on my 90 ranger, when I pulled the front wheel the hub came with it (which seems to be a common deal with these). The problem I have is that one of the springs on the hub is broken. I'm not very familiar with these so my question is, can I just replace the broken spring or could I have other issues going on? I also noticed that the inner hub on the left side seems to be out farther than the one on the right. When I try to put the cover back on it wont fit tight to the rotor unless I push in on it. Is this normal?

Can you post a picture? I'm not sure which springs you're speaking of...
Are they auto hubs? (might be a good time to swap to manual hubs, since the autos are not known for their reliability)

Here's a good way to eliminate the hub coming off with the wheel:

Lotsa info (with photos) about hubs is found here ( http://www.explorerforum.com/forums...lorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=232754 )

Yes, the auto hub is fussy about how you insert it. Its 3 pegs need to find the opposing 3 slots. I usually need to try all 5 positions (on studs) before I find the 1 position in which the hub rests perfectly naturally against the rotor. If not meshed exactly right, then the hub holds itself about 1/16" (or more) away from the rotor, and then it doesn't engage right. You want no gap there.
