8.8" Differential Questions

I started this new thread so others don't get upset and accuse me of high jacking theirs. However, if you would like to post your own question here, you are more than welcome to.

My questions is this:
Will an 8.8 Mustang LSD fit in a Ranger's 8.8 axle? Is there a difference in strength? Both are 31 spline.

The actual 8.8 LSDs for Mustang/Ranger /Explorer/F150/etc is identical. All are 31 spline, all all 8.8 gears to be mounted.

Actually the Ranger and I believe Mustang axles are 28 spline, explorers and F150's are 31 spline.

The gear sets are the same between the 28 spline and 31 spline axles but the limited slips are different

If you do have a 31 spline FX4 Level 2 axle (the only Ranger 31 spline 8.8 axle) then yes any of the 31 spline carriers are interchangeable.

Dutchman shows 05-14 Mustang GT / Shelby / 07-14 GT500 Mustangs with 31 splines. And I was thinking of the FX4 Lvl 2 Ranger with Torsen LSD for Rangers.

Note: Newer (15-19) F-150s with S 8.8 have 34 spline axles!
