Hello I have a 90 ford ranger with 5.0 carburetor in wanting to swap from auto to manual I know a trans from 96 f150 will work. But I’m it sure about the computer side of it.

When I get a the trans I need get the wiring also ?Manual transmissions, at least those that came behind a 5.0, did not have or need a computer. Install your manual, remove any computer stuff that maybe installed to support the existing auto.
Writing wise you'll need to connect the reverse light wiring to the new transmission, and convert from a neutral safety switch to a clutch switch.
Ideally, you get the harness for the transmission with the transmission and the neutral switch wiring with the pedalsWhen I get a the trans I need get the wiring also ?
Okay so basically it’s mostly plug and play besides lights re wire with an 96 trans out of f150Just jump the wiring at the transmission for the neutral start switch.
Appropriate clutch switch will plug into your dash harness.
How would it get Speedo signal ?Just jump the wiring at the transmission for the neutral start switch.
Appropriate clutch switch will plug into your dash harness.
How would it get Speedo signal ?
My bad should’ve said thatOh crap, you have a 2wd? I always forget that...
If it doesn't have a speedometer drive port (just swap your speedometer drive) you may need to change parts to add one or go to GPS speedometer.
