I sneaked them in on a order at work, Baum Hydraulic has them for $.41 and you can order as many (or as few) as you want.

Freight isn't bad for me but I am pretty close to them, you can pick them up at their warehouse if you are in the area. Part number is 153 70D if the link goes bad.

Older trucks use a smaller o-ring:

The correct size for the factor hub o rings on the 1980-91 rangers is 3.109" I.D., 3.387"O.D this is the oring standard AS568-235. These can be purchased from Grainger in a pack of 10. Item #: 41UM71

OK, this entire most-excellent thread has covered the O-ring on the backside of the hub... should we start a separate thread for Duh PVH hubs, which also have a smaller O-ring (approx. 2.65" dia) on the front side, which actually gets covered by the PVH hub itself, and maintains vacuum in the main "cylinder" of the PVH mechanism... ???

What’s your question? If you want a separate thread, go ahead and start one. Thats the only question I see you asking. So there isn't really anything in your post for people to comment on unless Dirtman’s butt itches.

Regarding the PVH hubs, it seems to me that they are generally regarded as unreliable and most people convert to live axle or some other style hub.

Grrr, I just went with the first post as it came up as a preview in Google search.

'89 Ranger, V6, Dana 28, manual hubs. The NAPA 727-2153 is too large for me, too, as explained above.

Been looking for that replacement o ring today and yesterday. Ford dealership can't even get me it. Any chance you'd know where to find it?
I found this kit on eBay that includes the ring and its part # ( F87A-3N320-BA ). https://www.ebay.com/itm/97-03-Rang...lse-Vacuum-4x4-Front-Locking-Hub/172428789337. But they don't sell it separately and neither does anywhere else. Nothing comes up when that part # is entered into google. Any help would be greatly appreciated and if I won't be able to fine one, any advice on what to use in replacement of that seal.

Also found this o ring on rock auto and it seems it measures to be the same or very close to the ring I have but says for rear hub.

FYI: the backside 3.50" I.D. x 3/32" thick O-Ring that is the subject of this thread is sized for a stretched-tight fit! i.e. the "land" (not groove) diameter is 3.94"... the groove DEPTH is about 0.06, so that's about 3.82" groove dia. = 0.32" undersize on the O-ring, or 0.16" radius undersize, but hey, I used them, and it seems to work... gotta use similar factors on sizing the FRONTside O-ring.

I found these O rings at a local hydraulic shop for about a buck each. I think they are the same or close to the same size the was mentioned earlier in this thread. They are just barely a stretch fit...they are about as tight as the others I've seen.

These are for a Dana 35 application, '90 and newer, I am going to try and round up some smaller ones that will fit Dana 28 axles and get a part number/size

I did get around the installing the o rings I ordered from info on this thread for my Dana 28 when I put my new wheels on. They fit great. My old ones were flat. It was time.

FYI there is a second smaller O ring that seals the outside of the hub as well and it requires the hub to be disassembled. I have not seen those go bad before. The big ones, are almost always just simply missing.
