3.27 gear ratio. biggest tire size?

Well I am assuming you have the automatic? cause I can tell you 31's and any lower then 3.73's it going to be a pain with a stick shift. Your either in one gear or another unlike the auto that goes smoothly through the rpm's so heavy tires are much less noticable and 225's are about 3" shorter then 31's

They are nothing to brag about with an automatic either...

From my experiance with 3.27's and a 4.0... I wouldn't go any bigger until I regeared.

I wouldn't run any bigger than P215/70R15s with 3.27 gears, myself (yes I know that's smaller than stock). Someone was on something pretty good when they thought 3.27 gears would be good in a 4WD truck with an overdrive transmission.

Your cheapest option for regearing will be to find some deeper-geared axles in a salvage yard, and just swap them directly for yours (if you can turn a wrench at all, this should be an easy swap). 3.73s are most common. 4.10s can be had too (and would be much better for 31-33" tires), but are harder to find (you have to look in separate trucks of different vintage for the front and rear axles, since no 4.0L TTB truck ever came with 4.10s stock).

I ran 31's on my truck with 3.27's for about a week before my gears got here, couldnt tell a difference over stock tire size(235/75's) if that's what your asking, but 4.10's are oh so much nicer.....not even a comparison between the two

Do I need any special tools to do it? if so are they expensive to buy?
