2010 8.8 axle swap in 1998 Ranger

I have a manual 1998 Ranger 2.5l with 7.5 rear end 28 spline with drum brakes. I wanted a stronger rear end with disc brakes. Would a 2010 Ranger 8.8 be a direct bolt since it's from a ranger or would modification still be needed like the Ford Explorer 8.8 rear end?

Should be a direct swap & only thing you'll have to modify is how the emergency brake cables hook up as they are different drum to disc. I'm assuming the gear ratio's are the same?

Don't quote me on this but I believe the abs/speed sensor may be different. I was literally looking for the same thing for my 99 2.5L. Found a 2006 8.8 with 4.10s and a limited slip at my local junkyard so I just scrapped the disc brake idea

the 2010 axle does not have the center ABS sensor, it uses a tone ring on each wheel.
it also has 28 spline axles.
the bearing surface is the big 31 size, the rest of the shaft is the same size as a 28.
the spring perches are normal Ranger.
the tube is the big size, new Ubolts and spring plates are needed.
that's for a 2010 2wd axle.
