I’m having problems with my 1994 Ranger 3.0 automatic. I was pulling out of the driveway and it stalled on me. Started it back up and took it down the street to see if it would do it again and it started running really rough and it almost died. So then I took it back to the driveway and it died as I was backing into the driveway. I replaced the ignition switch because I thought that it was causing it to stall. Anyone have any ideas on what it could be?

Best thing is to pull the fault codes. Has the distributor ever been replaced? It’s upper bearing doesn’t get lubed. So the bearing fails and then the drive gear fails and voila. No timing.

It starts up just fine the first time but once I start driving, it stalls and sometimes it starts back up and sometimes it doesn’t. I’m thinking it’s the fuel pump but I smell gas after I’ve cranked it a few times and I hear the fuel pump.
