ranger 2.5 tranny issue

No reverse and transmission slipping
I have a 2000 Ford Ranger automatic 2.5l with 163,000 miles on it. The transmission was doing this thing to where when I shifted from park to drive it wouldn't catch sometimes so you'd have to go down to 1st then back up. Lately it's been not even catching when I drop it to first then go back...- Asottung20
