flairs

I have seem several Rangers with a small box (like old Chevy trucks) but when I search I find only some with a slight flare to the wheel wells. I am curious if this is a special box one orders or it was a style, and if a style what years or what models? I did fine 1997 models mention flairs...

Have found a set of fender flairs from a Edge (smooth surface texture, color matching) from 1999... but will they be a straight fit on my 2005 FX4?? (rough surface, black)... what a Edge-ish look to the FX4... no bumper or grill changing... just matching flairs... Guessing the rear, will match...
