What did YOU do today?

My problem is I need both an open bed and a van or something. An aluminum cap is possible to take on and off the truck without help and really easy with two people to gain an open bed. Not so easy to do that with a van. Things may get reconfigured when I get more of my fleet back online though.

Trucks tend to be a lot cheaper to get used then Vans.

Vans just seem to hold their value until the end of time for some reason.

I am working on adding onto my little Harbor Freight greenhouse. I put up the first part about 4 years ago and it's held up very well so I bought another one and am adding 4' to the back of it which will be a separate room. There will still be a partial wall between the two halves and doors on both ends. We started storing shovels and stuff in there and then kid's pool stuff and now Christmas decorations so part of this will still be garden stuff storage, and that will make doing plant stuff easier. I just need to figure out if I want the original part to be storage and the new part to have plants... or vise versa... the new part is facing the south so it'll get more sun but the back half got too much sun and plants would cook in there.

Side note, if you do what I did, there are at least 3 styles of this greenhouse. They are similar but NOT the same. People were bitching about the clips that hold the panels on in the old style... so they went to slots where the panels slide in, eliminating the clips... but now you have to take it apart if you want to change a damaged panel. Stupid!

Greenhouse is mostly done, I finished up the panels & door in the dark last night. Not quite sure what happened but the walls are square and straight but the roof/rafters are NOT. Had to trim some of the panels at an angle. Oh well. Couple more finishing touches and it'll be ready to use.

South Dakota? where's the snow?

4 years? that's a lot longer than my HF portable garages last.

You can't see the snow? It snowed last night. That's how much snow we've got every storm this winter. And it was almost 70 degrees last Sunday.

Yeah, 4 years is pretty good I think. Some of the old panels are getting brittle and have a few hail dings so I may have to replace some in the next year or two. Hoping to use extra panels from the second greenhouse or Menards sells 4x8 sheets of the stuff if it really comes down to that. The structure itself is holding up very well.

i would have to use hurricane straps to put that down in my yard.

it seems like a perfect size for a storage shed. you could run a power line to it and have ac so stuff doesn't get moldy from the humidity.

We had 100mph winds here a few weeks ago that caused all sorts of damage. Snapped big pine trees in half, ripped my neighbor's spruce tree out by the roots, couple big buildings in town lost part of their roofs... I knew for sure that stupid greenhouse would be gone! Got up the morning after and it was still standing like nothing happened. I did find parts of someone else's greenhouse in my yard though, haha.

You do have to reinforce them. I have all the panels screwed down with self tappers and inside there is a framework of 2x2's that hold things together. It wouldn't have lasted a month if I hadn't done that stuff.
