Replaced passenger CV axle, now it leaks 2000 Ranger

So I replaced my 2000 rangers front passenger CV axle because the boot was torn. When I pulled the shaft out the whole internal shaft came with it, I slipped it on the new cv, slipped it in and everything went in smooth. Now I've got a constant leak of differential fluid coming out of the tube and dropping off the CV. Anyone got any ideas why this is happening? Thanks.

did you tear up the seal in the end of the tube?

Yup, sounds like you need new shaft seals. But I have seen residual fluid left in the tube look like its leaking. I'd clean it up real good and if it still keeps leaking replace the seals.

Looks like I'm buying seals, will I have to take the whole diff out to replace them? Also, is it normal that the whole internal shaft came with with the cv or did I break the clip inside?

Front axles dont have c-clips the axles are held in by the hub/wheel bearing. Similar to a full floating rear.

no. once the CV assemblies are pulled the seals are accessible. the seals are cheap.

since 2000s can be either setup, do you have pulse vacuum hubs or live axles with the big nut in the middle?
