Questions (and the answers) are how we learn things, so ask all the questions you want! It isn't troubling me, I love to talk about our Ranger trucks and the mods we have performed or plan to do!
Okay... first thing you need to know is that AFTERMARKET mirrors are NOT like OEM. If you intend to just put them on and enjoy them as they are, they are perfectly fine. If you want to mod them with OEM parts; well, forget that. On the outside, aftermarket mirrors look just like OEM, but INSIDE, they are vastly different (for copyright reasons). Ask me how I know. ;-) There is nothing at the salvage yard that will help you in this situation.
Secondly, the Explorer mirrors WILL NOT fit on a Ranger. The mirrors have a different angle where the mirrors fit onto the door sail. You NEED Ranger mirrors if you're gonna bolt them on your truck. 'nuff said.
Puddle lights (I love them!): They ARE OEM... just not for the Ranger. I modified my mirrors in order to install them. Ranger mirrors never came with puddle lights, heated glass or turn signals. Mine have all three because I WANTED them. The puddle lights are for a 2010 Lincoln MKx like my wife drives. One of hers went out, so I went on Amazon to find replacements. I found some LED versions that were made for that application. They are VERY bright! When I switched to '06+ style mirrors, I bought a nice pair of used 2009 mirrors with chrome covers from Y-Yard Auto & Truck Parts. Buying OEM mirrors allowed me to install the OEM Expo heated glass and modify them to add the Lincoln puddle lights and turn signals, making (in my opinion) the perfect mirrors for my truck.
I would attach a folder of pics and text to my album to possibly help you, but unfortunately, it won't allow me to do that.
