I bought a 2003 ranger 3.0 automatic, the OD does not seem to work. No lite comes on when you push the button in on the shifter, nor does the transmission drop down a gear
Any help will be great
David
My 3.0 did it for a year. replaced the iac 3 times, same thing. I put an alt on it Monday . IT HAS NOT REVED UP SINCE. The alt was putting out 14.2 volts but amps were down. The battery light was coming on at times too

My ranger was giving me fits with the run away idle [ 3,000 rpm or more[ I put several iac valves on it the last one OEM ford. Well I fixed it by accident. Put a new ALT on it . Runs better than it ever did
They welded the top of the crack, I expect there is a crack on the lower side., as cheap as you can pick up those heads, I would have never had one welded, JMO

I took general mechanics class and an ag class in the 8th, 9th, I took 2 ag classes in the 10th and 11th grades. They only had general mechanics 1 and 2 ,I only needed 2 classes in my senior [1974] year and worked at a Chevy dealer the rest of the day, and I have been working ever since then...
I picked up my truck Friday, had a tranny put in it. Works like a new one, with a life time warranty including parts and labor. Well lo and behold the heater stopped heating. Had a new thermostat installed when the tranny was put in. One hose hot and the other cold , flushed the core no love...
cant find any vacuum leaks, it will come back down to an idle , about 700 rpms when I stop, idles fine until I drive it, does not go to very fast idle [3000 rpms] all the time.
It is worse when it is cold , engine reves to 3000 at stop sign [ manual trans] it will come back down but takes a minute or two. I installed a new IAC valve same thing.
Thoughts please
Thanks David
