not sure about the newer ones but i did a 3-4 inch drop on one of my 1996 rangers and it needed shocks, im sure you will notice a stiffer ride but im sure you can go with stock shocks and it will be fine. you will not have a stock kind of ride no matter what shocks you go with though.
