i ran through the 18,000 page test procedure, it has output from the tfi, then input from tfi to eec but nothing back out.

Injectors have power to both sides but no ground trigger signal at all. Tested at the eec also, no signal either so i guess the eec is fried afterall.

If anyone has an EEC (computer) for this 86 2.3L please let me know.

Ive got an 86 ranger with the fuel injected 2.3L 4 banger, fuel pump wont come on and the injectors wont fir so i need an EEC. Preferably in Canada, can pay with paypal. Thanks, Gordon

Well.. that produced no results. It kinda sputtered but after than no signs of life. I got bored with a meter and test light, the eec is dead.

I havent dug that far in yet but i will check for power at the injectors today. I'm hoping its something simple and not the eec, they are hard to find.

I can jump the fuel relay and make the pumps run but it will not run. I want to check at the eec to see if theres a signal for the injectors, so many broken wires found already figured i would go to the source.

I searched and found an eec output for the 2.9... is it the same for the 2.3? If not does anyone have a pinout for this old beast? I opened the eec and replaced the capacitors (1 was leaking out the bottom) but i still have no fuel pump or injectors. Will start on ether and then die. Thx

i'm almost tempted to hook all 4 injectors up to the coils trigger and see if it will fire up.

I can get the pumps to run and make fuel pressure, really good spark on all 4 but the damn injectors wont activate. I'm really not sure how to even test the ecu to see if its outputting anything to them. For all i know, theres 10 more broken wires somewhere hahaha. i did find a used ecu on...

Thus far ive had no luck finding a distributor or suitable carb. Not sure i want to buy another ecu for $200, im thinking this truck has many more issues waiting for me yet.

I got to looking at this intake, looks like it would be pretty easy to adapt a 2bbl carb to it. Being as it already has spark and will run on ether.. would it need anything other then a low pressure fuel pump? Thx

Tried pulling codes and all i get is a solid test light, no blinks at all.

Okay so the IAC is located on the air box i found out, tested at that plug and get 12 volts (ish) with the key on. Found a broken green wire going into the coil (no idea how it had spark with that broken wire) and fixed that. Checked the ignition on the column and the switch is falling apart...

RonD, I will give that a try, this poor truck has been sitting for 2-3yrs.

I keep finding broken wires and repairing as i go, figured i would check the ignition switch next. I dont have noid lights and i havent seen any dash light to be honest.

Oh and someone has already bypassed that inertia switch aka wires soldered together.
