So, I've been looking into getting tuned, and have found mixed opinions on how. I have been talking with MorePowerTuning, online, and they seem to be shying away from tuning me, not from lack of support, but because they haven't tuned the ROT2 PCM before... A member over on RPS suggested using...
So, I figured I would post a build thread...

I have a semi urgent inquiry... My friend has a late nineties escort that hasn't any brakes at all, and he asked me if I could tow it to a repair shop for it to be repaired... Being that I don't have a suitable trailer, I figured to flat tow the car with his tow bar... I figure I have enough...
Basically, I just bought a 95 ranger with the 4.0 OHV V6 that I don't know jack diddly about... The truck has plenty of power and actually isn't too hard on fuel(so far I average 20-ish mpg)... Could it be improved on by getting an X-Cal and a tune? Or would such gains be so minimal that it...
I'm back guys! I've been absent a while, due to vehicle problems and then financial problems, and then I lost my job... So for now I have some time, lol...
Anyway around December, I had my Suzuki in the shop for a routine timing belt change, and then on New Year's Eve, I spun a rod bearing in...
A little intro...
The truck is a 1988 ranger, 2.0/2bbl, m5od, 2wd...
Back in april, i posted about killing the engine, only to find out that i wiped out the flat tappet cam... I swapped in a roller and kept going...
Anyway, i think the carb is about shot...
As some might remember, i...
i was driving my ranger last night taking out some garbage, turned around, got on it a little (3500 or maybe 4000 RPM in 1st), and i heard a loud horrible metallic noise(bang or knock or something internal), the truck stumbled really hard, and then had no power and made a horrible metallic...
so, i have come to an idea of where i want to take my truck, as far as engine goes... i want to find a 2.3 short block and an early 2.3 head(or reuse my 2.0 one) and build a "stage 1.5 engine" out of it. i am hoping for a stage one or two cam, forged pistons, mildly ported head and intake, long...
so when i finally get this backfire fixed, i plan to redo the exhaust to eliminate the rattle caused by the backfire loosening the insides of the factory muffler... i'm hoping to maybe gain a little over what i have now, which is the stock manifold, a hollowed cat(i didn't do it), and 2.25 inch...
it's not too serious an issue right now, but i figured i'd ask anyway...
it has trouble shifting... not when you're moving, but when stopped... it is sometimes difficult to get back into gear after going to neutral(like moving in a parking lot or doing a 3 point turn) and you have to really...
i am curious about what carb i have on my 2.0... i wanna say it's the factory 2bbl carb because it looks nothing like the 1bbl on my friend's 84 ranger with a 2.0... i just don't know what it is...(i know it needs a rebuild)
