To be like everybody else. If it's high enough it'll keep you from smashing your radiator if you roll. It can keep you from going ass over tea kettle on steep downhills, general grill, lights, winch protection, pushbar. If it has an angle to it like mine it acts as a ramp to push shit under the truck. You can slide on it if an approach angle is too steep for the truck lifting the front while the rear tires stay on the ground.

I think that about covers it.

That is semi useful... not sure why you would want to do a nosestand though.
