91 ranger 4x4 man change over

I have a question i have a 90 ranger 4x4 2.9 with M50D-R1 an all so have a 91 ranger 4x4 with a 4.0 an would like to see if the 2.9 transmission would go behind the 4.0 with no problems?. Any help would be much aprisiated

shouldn't be a problem. bolt patterns are the same for 2.8, 2.9, 4.0, and the sb fords (289, 302/5.0, etc.). should remove and replace and still have some of your weekend left over.

I did read an article in the tech library that transmissions mated to different engines have different gear ratios. Im looking for a M50D-R1 but the seem to be non existent for a 4.0 in my area.
