The middle connection is most likely a temperature tripped reed switch to shut down the charger when the battery gets warm. Charge with the + & - contacts with about 1 amp for about 1 hour. To get that from say the 12 volts from your truck, use in series a 5 ohm 10 watt resistor which is going to get pretty hot. When the battery starts to get warm, it is fully charged. Maybe you can find a wall transformer that will put out 1 amp at 7.5v to 8 vdc.

Just use an old cell phone charger, if you dont have one second hand stores have them by the bin loads. My wifi router is runing on one right now.

lithium ion batteries require a very special charging device. output is modulated in relation to temperature and/or charge time or something like that. i wouldnt try to rig something up as those suckers are expensive!

I've bought chargers for my Sony batteries on Ebay for 10 bucks. What battery number is it (NP-***)?

I believe I sell a charger for that battery its made by Empire Scientific, you could probably google the company name and find a seller on line for it.
It even comes with a car acc plug. $39.95.

Forgive me for sounding extremely obvious, but I take it you don't have AC adapter that came with the camera? Because the cord will charge the battery while it's in the camera.

Also, I am not positive, but I think the center pin is used on the info lithium batteries. It tells the camera how much battery life you have IIRC.

nope dont have it haha i wonder if i could just put a pos and neg on there and make it work

If you want, I can look at my cord for my camera tonight and tell you the output. I have a DCR-TRV-18 that uses the NP-FM50 battery as well.

Pretty common battery,Empire stands behind their product, thats whay I sell their stuff.
